CHT 2016 Crossing Threads / Connecting Cultures and the Sugarland Arts Center and Gallery presents:
TEXTILES OF THE WORLD
Cloth connects all of us through its commonality. All of humanity uses cloth from birth to death, and civilization would not exist without it. Textiles are highly collectible by world travelers. Weavers, in particular, go out of their way to seek out and meet the artisans, learn about the techniques used in different cultures, and build collections from their travels.
Many CHH members have traveled widely and amassed lovely textile collections representing many cultural traditions. Textiles of the World comes together from the collections of CHH members. Enjoy the artistry and the stories told through the threads.

SPECIAL TREAT – HGA’S SMALL EXPRESSIONS
Houston has been selected as the 2017 venue for Handweavers Guild of America’s Small Expressions.
Small Expressions is an annual, international, juried exhibition of small-scale works in fiber, and is HGA’s most prestigious exhibit.
The exhibit will be on view at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Houston’s premier craft museum.
On Thursday evening, following the pre-conference workshops, buses will take conference attendees to HCCC for a private viewing of Small Expressions.
We will then proceed to CHH’s Guild House for a reception hosted by CHH.
It is essential we know how many people plan to arrive on Thursday and attend this event so we can hire the appropriate number of buses. On the registration form, there is a place to reserve your seat on the bus. Those with reservations will be given boarding priority. Those without reservations will be allowed to board a bus if there are available seats. Please do not reserve a seat if you don’t plan to arrive on Thursday and attend this event – buses are expensive, and we don’t want to hire more than we actually need.
