I’d start in Dallas at STITCHES Texas September 22 – 25. The Dallas Guild will be there turning my skeins into beautiful, orderly balls of yarn. They would pack down nicely while I travel down to San Antonio/Austin and the Hill Country for the first nip of autumn and the 10th annual Hill Country Yarn Crawl, October 7 – 16. Why go to one yarn store when you can experience all 19 shops in the area (not to mention the food — Mexican in SA, Brats in New Braunsfels, BBQ in Austin ….)
Since I’m already in the Hill Country, I might just stay in the area for the Kid n’ Ewe and Llamas Too, November 11 -13 show at the Kendall County Fairgrounds in Boerne. This is a fabulous spot for spinners to find outstanding fiber and knitters and weavers to add to their stash.
So after a break for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner with the fam (just a nice check, Santa for me…I have more places on my fiber journey) and some time at my loom actually weaving up all this fiber (gotta make room for more yarn) I’ve got a few more stops.
I’m back in Dallas for the 2016 DFW Fiber Fest, April 9 – 7. This is a big one I hear…big room LOTS of fiber!!! Hope Dallas Guild will be able to wind my skeins again. Then on to Seguin for the Yellow Rose Fiber Festival, April 21 – 22. I’ll swing by home to drop off my treasures, just in time for my next stop.
Finally, the moment I have been waiting for all year… the CHT Biennial Conference, May 31 – June 4, in Sugarland, Texas. The incomparable Contemporary Handweavers of Houston will host the statewide event featuring teachers that I read about in journals, workshops to inspire me forever, vendors that I look forward to seeing every 2 years (yes, dear, I will use ALL that yarn, I promise), and the company of my many fiber companions.
What a great year! Whose in? Will I see you there?
Where are you going on your fiber journey this year? Any great shows in your area to share with the fiber curious?
